Volunteer Position for Eat Smart event offered twice annually in Lloydminster
Position: Eat Smart Volunteer Program Facilitator
Reports to: Program Coordinator
This position will deliver the Lloydminster Learning Council Association’s Eat Smart program, in partnership with the Lloydminster Catholic School Division. Eat Smart is a 120 minute community event that runs two times per year. It is a presentation to parents and community members on how to create healthy snacks that children will enjoy, understanding food labels and nutritional requirements, methods for packing or creating balanced lunches, and strategies for raising healthy children. This two hour session will also feature an opportunity for parents to create and sample two healthy, nut free snacks, that they can incorporate into everyday meal planning.
The next event will be tentatively held April 26, 2023 from 6:30PM -8:30PM
All program materials will be purchased by LLCA, including recipe ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver presentations that will make a lasting impression on families
- Refer learners to community resources and supports
- Keep anecdotal records (challenges, solutions, successes)
- Set-up and tidy the facility in which the program was held
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Clean Criminal Record Check
- Valid First Aid Certificate strongly recommended
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to vehicle
- Experience working with children and families
- Registered Dietician
- Able to create a safe, welcoming and warm environment for learners
