1000 Books Before Kindergarten Lloydminster
Read it and Reap
Welcome to 1000 Books Lloydminster
The task is simple: work towards reading 1000 Books with your child before they begin kindergarten. Reading early and often is a great way to form tighter bonds with your kids, setting them up for lifelong learning AND strengthening your relationship.
Visit earlyyearsmattermost.ca for more information on how to support the healthy development of your 0-5 year old.
We had so many little readers join us, 1000 Books is currently full! Keep an eye out for spots to open again soon.
How It Works:
- This program is open to all children who have not yet started Kindergarten. Whether you live in Alberta or Saskatchewan, if you live in the Lloydminster area, your child is eligible. It opens April 1, 2023 and limited spots are available.
- Sign up at the Lloydminster Library, located in the Lloyd Mall. Ask to register your child for the 1000 Books program. Your child will receive a welcome bag with information and a book tracker.
- Check out a new book at the library if you need one!
- Read books together and mark them down. Use the paper tracker to keep track. You can read one book 1000 times, or 1000 different books. The important thing is to read together.
- When you reach a milestone, take your child to the Lloydminster Library to receive the milestone prize.
- 100 Books
- 300 Books

- Information on milestones can be found in the welcome bag. Prizes will increase in value with each milestone met.
